What people mean by “crypto”

Crypto is not one thing. Most people heard the circus. Underneath it is plumbing.

01

The asset — A ticket

A coin or token is just an entry that says something is yours. Like a ticket, its worth depends entirely on what it gets you and how many were printed. The ticket is not the show.

02

The network — The rails

Underneath every coin is a network of machines keeping the same shared list of who owns what. That is the plumbing: unglamorous, always on, and the part that actually has to work.

03

The rulebook — Venue rules

Each network follows published rules: how many coins exist, who can add entries, what a fee costs, how disputes settle. Read the rulebook and most hype stops being confusing.

The analogy

Saying “I like crypto” is like saying “I like electricity.” Power plant, outlet, or lamp?

We teach the quiet version. All signal. No noise.
